Reflecting on the Year & Preparing for New Beginnings

Picture

Season's Greetings!

The evergreen is prized the world over for its hardiness in the coldest of months. It is seen in many cultures as a symbol of eternal life, strength amidst difficulty, and peacefulness. Our ancestors across various continents chose to bring this symbol of life and power into the home. Sometimes, the figure of the evergreen stood majestically in the middle of the room; in other cultures, it adorned the entryway or was affixed to the gates at the front of the house to usher in good luck. While we may not think of the symbolism each time we see the evergreen, it can be helpful for us to think about the One Power that courses through the tree and allows it not only to survive but to thrive in the wintery conditions that seem so harsh and difficult to pass through. That One Life is our life, too. Just as the evergreen braves most difficult temperatures and weather conditions, so too do we have the fortitude and potential to surmount any difficulty and to be stronger because of it. This season, know that you are part and parcel of that same Life that allows the evergreen to grow majestically and thrive in the midst of the powder snow.

Hard though it might be to believe, we are winding down the year! With fewer days than usual between Thanksgiving and the various holidays of December and the New Year holiday at the beginning of January, some of us might be feeling a little pressed for time. Perhaps others are in disbelief that we will soon herald in a new year. Wherever you might be in your preparation for the year end and ushering in the new year, we are pleased if you will consider coming to visit us on Sunday. We also have our annual candlelight service planned for Friday, December 20, at 7:00 pm. This is our annual tradition to reflect on the God Qualities we celebrate and know reside within each and every one of us. Join us for some words of inspiration, fellowship, and traditional carols.

Inclement Weather Communications

We are coming to the time of the year where inclement weather might make it challenging to attend services. We ask that each person exercise caution in driving and prioritize safety first. In the rare event that services be cancelled owing to inclement weather, we will send an email to our newsletter mailing list, make posts to our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, all under @csltricities), as well as posting a message on the homepage of our website. We will be compiling a communications list so that the staff can send text messages and/or call people who frequently attend service to ensure that everyone gets the message in the event that we need to forego service for the week. If there is a cancellation, some supplemental material will be available online for you to enjoy related to the message that was planned for that week. If you have any questions, please contact the staff.

December Treatment

In the midst of this season of reflection, I reflect on the One Intelligence that expresses Itself as all manifestations of Life on this planet. This all-sustaining, all-powerful Intelligence is my life now. The more I focus my heart on Its presence deep within me, the more I find Its demonstration in my experience. It flows through me and is emitted from me as an overwhelming sense of peace. This peace envelopes and embraces me. The same peace alights in this season of light. From this peace come all the healings, all the revelations, all the miracles I seek to experience in my life. When I welcome the experience of peace within me and make the time to commune with peace, I find that I think differently, I speak differently, I am different. And the world I behold is also reflected back to me differently. It is a world of peace where everything is supremely ordered, guided, and illuminated with the ultimate peace of the certainty that all is in Divine Right Order. The One Intelligence unites all in a dance of life. I open myself to the Peace that is mine by birthright. I know that the more I practice trusting it, the more my life unfolds into only good, good, and more good. All that lies before me is perfection. I choose to know that this is so. I give thanks that I am one face of God and that all the others whom I meet are the face of God smiling back at me. The Universe is generous in Its abundance. I choose to entrust myself to Its magnificence. And so It is.

November 2019

"The more gratitude I feel, the more I am aware that the supply is endless."

Louise Hay. Gratitude: A Way of Life

November greetings to all our friends from the Center for Spiritual Living Tri-Cities. As always, we have so much for which to be grateful and some news to share with all of you. First and foremost, we extend our gratitude to the Reverend Sandy Smith for her 13 years of service in our member community. Last Sunday, 27 October, 34 friends and well-wishers gathered at CG Public House (formerly the Country Gentleman) in Kennewick to celebrate and give thanks for Reverend Sandy's ministry here in the Tri-Cities. Those in attendance took turns reflecting on their fond memories and expressing their well-wishes; Reverend Sandy's ministry was characterized by love, acceptance of all, and enthusiasm for special events and festivities. Together with her husband, Gary, she has set sail on a new adventure in retirement. We do hope and anticipate that we will continue to see their faces in our midst; she will always be "minister emerita" to us.

Our wish for Rev Sandy--and husband, Gary, too!--is happy travels as they go.

We are at a crossroads in our community here in Kennewick. The Board of Trustees is currently completing necessary formalities to seek a change in designation to be recognized as a CSL Teaching Chapter. What does this mean for us in terms of day-to-day processes, weekly services, classes, and programming? In fact, we anticipate that our members and friends will see very little change. We will continue to offer public meditation and services, including a message, on Sundays. Classes, workshops, and other programming are a big part of our plans for the coming year. What we do promise is a renewed focus in our services and in our course offerings on the essence of our teaching and the principles at the foundation of New Thought. This we do to reassert our heritage as practitioners of the Science of Mind and reinforce our understanding that this is an practical spirituality whose value lies in its application. Central to our intention to being recognized as a Teaching Chapter is a focus on mutual learning, teaching, and growth. We know the message of Truth and Freedom has a place in the fabric of the Tri-Cities and hope you will join us if it has been awhile.

Greetings from the Incoming Executive Director

My name is Donny Anderson. I have been a member at the Center for Spiritual Living Tri-Cities for the past 3 years and was licensed as a practitioner this past June. Some of you, I have met; others, I have yet to have the privilege. Prior to joining CSL Tri-Cities, I was living in Japan, where I worked in community and higher education for 6 years. It was there that I first happened upon New Thought in the form of You Can Heal Your Life by the late Reverend Louise Hay. Her words left such an impression that I immersed myself in New Thought philosophy. At the time, I read everything with such an voracious appetite, it may as well have been a menu. I pored over titles by the Reverend Eric Butterworth of Unity, New Thought luminary Florence Scovel Shinn, and, of course, a writer by the name of Ernest Holmes. Upon returning to my native Mid-Columbia home after my time overseas, I learned that there was a Religious Science organization right here in Kennewick when I saw an announcement on Meetup. I jumped in, taking classes in earnest, and now here I am, ready to serve.

To this new opportunity, I bring my resolute belief that these concepts can bring peace, poise, a capacity to love oneself and others more deeply, and a more proactive, compassionate outlook on life. These beliefs are rooted not only in theory and study but also in practice. I have seen them work miracles in my life. I am excited to share in the mutual learning that we are embarking upon here. I will be joined by our practitioners in leading service and teaching classes. I also hope to continue expanding our online content over the coming months. If you've not come to see us in some time, please consider making a trip; we would be so pleased to see you.

November Treatment

There is but One Life, One Presence, One Infinite Intelligence that creates, sustains, and envelopes all there is. This Life is my life right here, right now. Its peace is the inner peace that flows from the wellspring of my heart. Its love envelopes me like a blanket and enriches all my eyes behold. Its vitality flows through every fiber of my being as perfect health in a right and perfect way. Its abundance comes to me as prosperity in all aspects of my life; I open myself to the abundance that nurtures and sustains my experience of life. This One Intelligence is every good idea that comes to me in the perfect time and sequence. It keeps and guides me, showing me what to do and illuminating my path to show me just how to do it. The right people, circumstances, and opportunities cross my path at just the right time. My experience of life unfolds just as it should for my highest good and greatest joy moment by moment and breath by breath. I know that I am a magnificent facet of this One Life and that I have the power and poise to bless and prosper not only myself but also all those whom I hold dearest. I give thanks for this in resolute certainty that my word is accepted into that Infinite Law that always says, "Yes, my dear one." I entrust myself to it. And so it is.o edit.
