Happy New Life!

Picture
“Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.”

— Ernest Holmes.

We begin the year anew. Many of us begin the new year with resolutions, promises to ourselves and others that we will turn over a new leaf. This custom reminds me that we actually have the power to change our lives and live a new life. We can choose to live differently at any given moment and leave our old way of thinking and speaking and knowing behind.

What gives us this power? In fact, the power to change our lives and live a new life comes from bringing the light of awareness to the way we are thinking, the way we are living, and the results. If you want to know where to change your thinking and your way of life, look at the circumstances in your life. Are they negative or positive? Now, this does not mean that we are to blame for all of the misfortunes that have befallen us or that everything in our lives is the one-to-one correspondence to a thought we have had; however, it does mean that when we take stock of those aspects of our lives in which we do have influence, we can look to see what it is we are doing that is contributing to conditions we say we do not want.

Are we caring for ourselves with gentle compassion, or are we harsh with ourselves, saying, "Oh, you never do anything right; you have no self control."

Are we loving to others? Do we nurture our relationships with love and respect, or do we find ourselves saying hurtful things in fits of passion to those whom we say we love best?

Are we indulging in negative thinking, rumination, blaming ourselves and others, and unforgivingness?

You see, the only thing we ever have complete control over is the very thought we are choosing to think in this moment. I am not talking about trying to control 'automatic thoughts' that come to us, especially when we are feeling panicked or depressed. What I am talking about is the thoughts we choose to indulge. We can have a thought without buying into it; we can choose to think positive thoughts about ourselves and nurture our ability to do so. When was the last time you looked yourself in the mirror and said, "I love you. I really love you. Thank you for being alive with me." Do you think that sounds silly? Maybe you think it sounds crazy. But the truth of the matter is that most of us have no problem criticizing our looks or thinking poorly of ourselves when we look in the mirror, and that is just as arbitrary, just as based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or logic.

The truth is that in order to live a new life, you and I need to be willing to think differently. We need to be willing to act differently. We need to be willing to think and act out of accordance with the values we hold dear.

If you want a more loving life, you must think loving thoughts.
If you want a prosperous life, you must begin believing that you deserve it and that everyone deserves this.
If you want a joyous life, you must think joyous thoughts.

It may not be easy, but it really is that simple.

I know you can do it.

A New Year's Affirmative Prayer

Cecelia Ward, RScP
As I enter into this new year, I give great thanks for all of the blessings in my life. I know that as an individualized expression of the Divine and that I am enveloped in health, wholeness, peace, prosperity, and love.

I know that everything in my life is unfolding exactly as it should to allow me to accept my greatest and highest good for 2020. The year is indeed the year of clear vision. I am able to see and appreciate the good in my life and accept it with a grateful heart. I release and let go of anything unlike the highest and best in my life, knowing that all is well and I am safe. I embrace the goodness of my life and relish in it.  I am blessed and I am a blessing in the world today.

I give great thanks for all these blessings right here and now. And so It is!

Reflecting on the Year & Preparing for New Beginnings

Picture

Season's Greetings!

The evergreen is prized the world over for its hardiness in the coldest of months. It is seen in many cultures as a symbol of eternal life, strength amidst difficulty, and peacefulness. Our ancestors across various continents chose to bring this symbol of life and power into the home. Sometimes, the figure of the evergreen stood majestically in the middle of the room; in other cultures, it adorned the entryway or was affixed to the gates at the front of the house to usher in good luck. While we may not think of the symbolism each time we see the evergreen, it can be helpful for us to think about the One Power that courses through the tree and allows it not only to survive but to thrive in the wintery conditions that seem so harsh and difficult to pass through. That One Life is our life, too. Just as the evergreen braves most difficult temperatures and weather conditions, so too do we have the fortitude and potential to surmount any difficulty and to be stronger because of it. This season, know that you are part and parcel of that same Life that allows the evergreen to grow majestically and thrive in the midst of the powder snow.

Hard though it might be to believe, we are winding down the year! With fewer days than usual between Thanksgiving and the various holidays of December and the New Year holiday at the beginning of January, some of us might be feeling a little pressed for time. Perhaps others are in disbelief that we will soon herald in a new year. Wherever you might be in your preparation for the year end and ushering in the new year, we are pleased if you will consider coming to visit us on Sunday. We also have our annual candlelight service planned for Friday, December 20, at 7:00 pm. This is our annual tradition to reflect on the God Qualities we celebrate and know reside within each and every one of us. Join us for some words of inspiration, fellowship, and traditional carols.

Inclement Weather Communications

We are coming to the time of the year where inclement weather might make it challenging to attend services. We ask that each person exercise caution in driving and prioritize safety first. In the rare event that services be cancelled owing to inclement weather, we will send an email to our newsletter mailing list, make posts to our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, all under @csltricities), as well as posting a message on the homepage of our website. We will be compiling a communications list so that the staff can send text messages and/or call people who frequently attend service to ensure that everyone gets the message in the event that we need to forego service for the week. If there is a cancellation, some supplemental material will be available online for you to enjoy related to the message that was planned for that week. If you have any questions, please contact the staff.

December Treatment

In the midst of this season of reflection, I reflect on the One Intelligence that expresses Itself as all manifestations of Life on this planet. This all-sustaining, all-powerful Intelligence is my life now. The more I focus my heart on Its presence deep within me, the more I find Its demonstration in my experience. It flows through me and is emitted from me as an overwhelming sense of peace. This peace envelopes and embraces me. The same peace alights in this season of light. From this peace come all the healings, all the revelations, all the miracles I seek to experience in my life. When I welcome the experience of peace within me and make the time to commune with peace, I find that I think differently, I speak differently, I am different. And the world I behold is also reflected back to me differently. It is a world of peace where everything is supremely ordered, guided, and illuminated with the ultimate peace of the certainty that all is in Divine Right Order. The One Intelligence unites all in a dance of life. I open myself to the Peace that is mine by birthright. I know that the more I practice trusting it, the more my life unfolds into only good, good, and more good. All that lies before me is perfection. I choose to know that this is so. I give thanks that I am one face of God and that all the others whom I meet are the face of God smiling back at me. The Universe is generous in Its abundance. I choose to entrust myself to Its magnificence. And so It is.
